Our Staff & Leadership

The Compact’s staff of experienced land preservation professionals delivers practical and timely technical assistance. We enable our member land trusts to complete up to fifty new land acquisition projects every year in Barnstable County—an achievement that would not be possible without the critical assistance provided by our team.

Executive Leadership

Mark Robinson — Executive Director

Mark has served as Executive Director since The Compact’s founding in 1986 and is the "go-to" person for all open space matters on Cape Cod. In his role, he oversees personnel, handles all administrative tasks, assigns work among staff, and works closely with the Treasurer to ensure financial accountability. He also provides direct project management for larger, more complex land preservation projects.

Specialist Network

We draw upon a wide network of professionals throughout Cape Cod who volunteer their time and expertise in surveying, appraising, financial management, field studies, and fundraising.

Governance & Board Oversight

While staff manage daily operations and execution, The Compact is governed by a Board of Directors comprised solely of volunteer delegates representing each member land trust. The Board meets bimonthly to govern organizational policy, budgets, and personnel policies.
